Through the years we have had a number of ferrets undergo surgery for
insulinoma and in general have been very pleased with the results. May I
refer you to the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association
1998;34:471-5, "Insulinoma in the Ferret: Clinical Findings and Treatment
Comparison of 66 cases by Weiss, Williams and Scott in which the DISEASE
FREE INTERVALS and SURVIVAL TIMES were compared for: treatment medically
(22 days and 186 days), surgical treatment with pancreatic nodulectomy (234
days and 456 days), and surgical treatment with pancreatic nodulectomy and
partial pancreatectomy (365 days and 668 days). If you have a good vet you
can see what the choices are.
