Yes it surely does bother me personally.  Being the admitting person, the
treating person and the one who worries about the funding-- sure it bothers
me a lot.
 
For instance-- in the early days ( 6 years ago) ferrets age 7, 8 yerars had
adrenal disease at the shnelter-- today ages 2, 3 and up all have adrenal
disease.  There are theorized reasons..  noe proven scientifically.  Yesd,
the numbers certainly are scewed to early alter ( before 18 weeks) in those
exhibiting symptoms of adrenal disease at age 2-3-- at least here at THIS
facility.
 
And tired, you bet -- 2 more coming in a bilateral- because the family
can't deal with it anymore ( formerly a shelter ferre) we have 32 in
hospice care-- no more hospice slots open--
 
A call for folks wanting to adopt because they cannot afford the 500-$1,000
for surgery-- a new ferret is much more feasible--
 
IS THIS WRONG-- YOU BET!!!!!  Because the bottom line is they are NOT told
when they purchase these pets the high end vet bills which will follow-- in
more instances than not--
 
so what do no-kill shelters do???  we have to become machines which
invariably have to come up with ways to raise funds-- so we can care for
ferrets ( more sick than not)-- that grow increasingly every day!
 
HELLO- anyone out there care to comment, care to help find a reasonable way
to deal with the adrenal crisis at ferret shelters?
