Good morning:

I have a question for you all. One of our masters (Slartibartfast, a 7ish
month old male) is losing the hair on the front of both front legs. There
seems to be no irritation or soreness in the area. Neither of our other
ferrets, both slightly older females, have had this happen. Is this likely
to be normal shedding?

[Sounds odd. Normal shedding is usually even, and rarely enough to notice
hair loss - the only way you know it's happening is the hair in the bottom
of their cage. Ferrets, particularly females, will lose hair around the
genital area duing heat cycles. Not the fore legs... What are you feeding
them? When we got Nicia she was missing quite a bit of hair on her tail,
chin and back legs. That turned out to be symptomatic of a *major* infection
and malnourishment. Suggest you see a vet]

Thanks for your help...
        Wes
