Actually the same genus of bacterium but a different species.  Ferrets
get H. mustelae (Can't recall spelling off-hand.) and humans get H.
pylori.  It's not like some few things that humans and ferrets share like
influenza and some sinus infections -- either of which can be mistaken
for colds (but not real colds themselves which are rhinovirus infections
that ferrets don't get -- much to the disappointment of the
pharmaceutical research community).
