Hello all,
Last week I moved myself and two little furry girls from a cramped studio
to a spacious 2 bedroom apartment. The first day, I kept them in "their"
room, which also houses the computer and lifecycle, while I ferretproofed.
The have never like to use the litter box in the cage, unless they were
locked in, while I am at work, so I gave them a box on the other side of
the room as well. The next day, I let them roam around the whole place,
showed them where the boxes were in the other rooms, they obliged my by
pooping in them, and I praised them excitedly and bestowed large amounts
of treats on them. Hooray, I thought, this went unbelievably well. Ha!
After five days of about 95 percent accuracy, which is great under any
circumstances, they have started to go everywhere!!! I have placed
food/and or ferret smelling sleeping material in just about all the
corners, and there are many of them, and now they are going in the middle
of the kitchen floor, up against the living room walls, anywhere but in the
boxes. I would give in and just move the boxes, but there's no way to put
litter boxes in the weird places they are going. Anyone who has
experienced this, please help. I can't figure out why they were so good
for the first few days, and now all over the place. I am also supposed to
be adopting and 8 month old little boy who needs a home very soon, and I
don't want my girls to start him off with bad habits. He's not free range,
so I suspect it will be an uphill battle anyway, but I'd like to have them
straightened out first. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Gail, Spot, Frito (AKA Spike) and (coming soon, hopefully) Bandit
