Some of the comments posted in the Past regarding the Eugene, Oregon
Ferrets were good.

I just would like to make a comment on how it is handled here in
Washington State and probably in Oregon.

The experience that I have had here in Washington State. A ferret that
is turned into the Humane Society, PAWS or Animal control would call a
Ferret Shelter if they knew of one and release the ferret to the shelter.
If there is no Ferret shelter they then would put the ferret to sleep.

I think Chris and Kristine did the only thing they could possible have
done with the ferrets. I am not sure how the Pacific Ferret Network
works, I do wonder if when a shelter joins the Pacific Ferret Network,
doesn't the Network go out and check the shelters. According to what I
read the Eugene ferret shelter was part of the Pacific Ferret Network, so
this is why Chris and Kristine went down to get the ferrets. I have also
heard that some of the ferrets that Chris picked up will be going to
another shelter in the Network here in Washington State.

I am sure every state is different and what laws are in place in one
state are not in place in other states.

I find it sad that the Humane Societies, that gets money from the states,
will only take cats and dogs, and not other animals and find homes for
them. If they did we wouldn't need all these over loaded ferret
shelters. Put then where do all these other animals mostly come from,
Pet Stores selling these "other" domestic animals. It seems to me the
PetCo's, and other Pet stores need to step up and take the responsiblity
in my opinion. They give money to the Humane Societies which have cats
and dogs, but most Pet stores don't sell cats and dogs, its the "other"
animals that they sell which they don't take any responsibility for after
they leave the store.

As far as I have read here, Chris and Kristine, never came here begging
for help. Sure they need it, all the Ferret Shelters here in the US need
it, and the ones that never beg for help need it even more.

We all need to work together for the benefit of all ferrets!
