I would recommend not descenting your new baby.  I didn't have my male
Scooter descented, and he's very rarely posed a problem with smell in the
two years I've had him.  He occasionally sprays, but my air purifier takes
care of the odor, and in fact can be used to deodorize him by holding him in
the ozone stream.  Even without the magic machine, the smell dissipates
fairly quickly.  I don't plan to descent future fuzzies either; it just
seems like more cost and trauma than it's worth.
