Just wanted to say something about candle wicks; many candle wicks do have
metal cores, because the wicks stand up so much better when they have a
metal core for support.

Most/all of the candle makers in the U.S. gave up using lead-cored wicks
years ago .. I'm not sure if it's even still legal to use lead-cored wicks
in this country any more. (Some manufacturers in other countries use
lead-cored wicks, though).

If you want to get a candle which does NOT give off lead fumes when it's
burning, go for one made in the U.S. ... especially one made by a large,
reputable manufacturer like Yankee Candle, etc. Beeswax candles burn
particularly "cleanly", and there are places on the Web that sell 100%
beeswax candles, if you are concerned about the fragrance/essential oils
in the candle having an effect on you and your fuzzies. You might also
want to get a candle fragranced with essential oils instead of synthetic
fragrance oils, as the essential oils are more natural.
