Thank you thank you thank you for that. I got one of those "fuzzballs"
from PetCo as my first ferret (I still have him, of course) and he is
such a joy in my life. I cannot imagine life without him. I am very
very glad I got him from PetCo. It is in my opinion that the PetCo
ferrets need homes so much more than the ferrets in foster homes. (I
know I know, every ferret needs a forever home, but please hear me
out). I worked at PetCo and ever since I have, just for kicks I go into
every PetCo I pass by to check out the conditions. In every PetCo I
have been in so far, the conditions have been the same, the ferret cage
is GROSS! I was always very proud of the ferret cage I was in charge of
at PetCo. Even if I was told to do something else, I always made sure
the ferret cage was in good condition. My manager understood my love of
the ferrets, even if some of my coworkers hated that I "got away with
taking care of animals." Wow, what a concept, caring for the animals.
Sorry guys, but when there is feces smeared across the glass of the
enclosure, you'd better believe I'm going to clean it before I try to
stock some shelves.

PetCo often orders 6 or more baby ferrets at a time, and we never had a
big enclosure, so the baby ferrets were climbing all over each other,
walking through the feces, etc. I was always the only one who would
take the ferrets into grooming to get the feces off. In fact, I was
always the only one who took care of any of the small animals period.
There's always something heartbreaking about opening the ferret cage
and watching 8 little faces looking at you and jumping up toward you
because they want attention.

Sorry guys, I just had to rant about that. The PetCo ferrets are no
less deserving of a home than any other ferret. I have heard so many
people put me down for buying a pet store ferret. Why not? They need
homes too. Yes, I paid a little more, but since the first time I held
him and he started kissing my nose (he won't do it for anyone but me)
I realized that my little Dorian is absolutly priceless and I would
pay any price needed for him.
