Hello! How is the ferret family doing today. Well I decided that I would
make an appearance. I've been extremely busy lately with the wedding plans
as I grow closer to my day (September 12th) that I haven't had much time to
read or write on the FML. I have though been busy in my own ferret world.
I am presently a foster mom. Bumbles and Pepper we picked up direct from
the shelter to foster in our home for a little while. The meeting with them
and my two (Tess and Bandit) went fine. Then about a week later some girl
leaves a message on our machine saying that she had a ferret that she needed
to get rid of and she got our name from the pet store. Seeing we were
already fostering ferrets we knew the shelter was full but we called and
talked and we were told that it was up to us to foster the ferret. So we
were contemplating it as the girl said she was fine there (we are talking 5
college students dorming together who liked their parties). She also
informed us that she has parties and let the little girl run around during
them and she had no cage. Over thinking about that and 4th of July coming
up I decided she was not in a safe home. So we called her up and said we
would pick her up to only find out that she "ran" away the night before!! I
was practically in tears wondering why we didn't call before hand. So my
fiance and I be extremely upset decided to call them and offer to search.
Now this is not in a good neighborhood so all we could do is search around
the house. Well none of there stories matched each other on how she
escaped. They were a little hung over and I don't think they even caught on
that they were giving us different stories. Oh and yes the girl who called
us to give us the ferret was sleeping and could not be disturbed and no one
else knew her name. And she had no toys and didn't come to anything. Well
there was some trash on the side of the door but we couldn't find her. Went
home sulking, did errands, to come home to another message that she came
back. While he was on the phone with her to make sure we were all set I was
waiting by the door ready to take off. We got there and she was missing
again!!!! Now I notice everything wrong in this place. Low windows open
without screens, no no ferret safe stuff on the floor. She ended up getting
into one of the locked bedrooms and now I started getting real mad and
demanded information. DOES SHE COME TO ANYTHING. No. DOES SHE HAVE A
NAME. No (that upset me). Try to find her some more Finally I'm working my
way around things Does she come to food being poured. YES.. I'm on it and
she crawled out from under the door. I was suppose to be there to pick up a
sable and instead she is a very pretty 4 = month old black mitt. Started to
check ears and cleaned to make sure there were no mites. Mind you I was
asked if I was a "Professional" to check ears. Give me a break. OH WELL!!
She now has a very safe and loving home with us. She came in as a foster
kid and mine NOW (my girl did have problems) seem to get along great with
her. She is even sleeping with them. My fiance told me that she can stay.
So welcome Meagan into this caring home forever you have been adopted
(7-13-98).

Thank you for sharing this moment with me/us.
Humans: Emily and Shane
Ferrets: Bandit, Tess, and now Meagan.
