Hello FML Fertfolks ;o)

As always Ferris sends ya all a dookdook and BIG KISS ;o) We are
constantly offering up our prayers for ailing ferts and their folks!

Before we get to the reason for this post today we just want to say...

THANKS SOOOOO MUCH BIG!!! <KISS-SMILE> <ya know what for>
[Um, actually, I don't know what for. BIG]

Okay, today whilst we were responding to a private email concerning one
of the posters on FML, who'd had the misfortune of encountering a recent
"obstruction" event with her little fuzz girl, we had provided her with
a listing of just a few "articles" which can be culprits in this ailment
and it dawned on us that perhaps there be others on the FML which might
also benefit from this little list, soooo we've included it below . . .

YES, this is vital that ya do attempt ta determine the origin of the
obstruction, so it will not reoccur. In the case of foam/rubber here are
just a couple sources ya might keep an eye on for "knicks" perhaps one's
the culprit in this case too... Sneaker/shoe insoles, rug/carpet (the
undersides/padding), stuffed toys, foam pillow/cushions stuffing, table
placemats (skid proof foam backing esp. when used under the food dishes)
foamy hair curlers, furniture stuffing (usually from "underside/inside") &
mattress/boxspring stuffings, cleaning/washing sponges, sponge/foam floor
mops, shoulder pads(from clothing), 'some' purses/luggage linings, rubber
drain plugs, rubber type toys (pet or childs), hot water bottles, and
cervical braces/collars, as well as those "hot/cold magic bags" some of
these use natural substance like rice/wheat etc. others use a type of foam
beads. This is far from a comprehensive listing! And in addition it is
wise to check any clothing/cloth/fleecy products for signs of chewing as
well. But perhaps these few can assist you with fert proofing now.

Perhaps other experienced fertfolks could add other items to this list?
It certainly is not a "complete" list of "caution items" and there are
plenty of other "materials" apart from foam/rubber which can be ingested
by the ferret and become an obstruction. Immediately comes to mind the
common "hairball" for example. We'd like to encourage again here the
advice to "regularly" give either a 'hairball' remedy or 'vasoline' at
least every few weeks, and especially when fuzzies are 'shedding', but
during other times too, simply as a "precautionary maintenance", often
we've seen folks who were not even aware of an "obstruction" but after
administering the vasoline have noticed that "something" had been passed
in the stool. We always take the "better safe than sorry" attitude here!
