I just read in the January '97 issue of Discover magazine about how some
sufferers of chronic heart failure, wherein the weakened heart thickens and
enlarges, are being treated with a new surgical procedure wherein a section
of the heart wall is removed from the left ventrical and the resulting gap
is sutured closed, reducing the size of the heart.  I wondered if this could
have any application for ferrets suffering from cardiomyopathy?  Of course
I'm not a surgeon or a vet, so I don't know how feasible this would be for
use in non-humans.
