I really dodged a bullet today. I had some personal time to use so I came
home early today. Wed's are my ferret cage cleaning day, so everyone was
out and playing. Well before they came out I had let the dog outside and
apparently hadn't latched the door completely. My neighbor came knocking
on my door to tell me that my ferrets were outside. I freaked out, I ran
to the door and closed it and Skeeter was playing on the other side of the
porch so I grabbed him and put him in the cage. Then I came back in and
took a head count to see who was missing. Bill, Hershey and RC were
missing. So I went back outside and there was RC, so I put her back in
the cage. Then Bill came meandering out from underneath the porch and so
only Hershey was missing. I just kept calling her name and making noise
and then all of a sudden there she was. I can't tell you how relieved I
was and how mad at myself I was for not making sure the door was shut.
I won't make that mistake again. I feel I was very lucky today to find
everyone and thank goodness for my neighbor coming right over and telling
me that they were out.
