I can't remember if this is the correct address to
send mail to so if not, please correct me and let me know.

I was wondering if it is normal for a ferret to have an
unusual (or at least what I think is unusual) amount
of ear wax. I at first thought it was ear mites because
it looks like that in a way, however when I took her
to the vet, she couldn't find any mites under the scope
and told me that mites produce a darker substance.
She said if it still appears that there is a lot of
wax she would look into it again next month again.
It doesn't appear to irritate Tiki but in the last
two weeks I have cleaned her ears approximately 3 times.
Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be?

Can anyone recommend a food that is healthy yet doesn't
stink up my whole apartment? I was using kitten IAMS but
it really smelled bad so I switched to proplan. Also
I read somewhere that you should feed ferrets moist
food sometimes because the dry has a lot more protein than
they need. Is this true?

[Our vet recommends Science Diet dry or IAMS dry. We've
progressed through the SD kitten, mature and diet brands with
Mocha and it seems to be fine. We're now trying a special
made-for-ferrets dry, but it doesn't seem to make any difference,
except for costing 3 times as much as the normal S/D stuff, which
is already high priced for cat food. You can back off almost
completely from the moist food if you like - use the moist stuff
as a 1-3 time per week supplement.]
