I'd like to abandon the subject of descenting for awhile and let people know
about a new medical product that is available now. So far, it is only
approved for dogs, but I can see no reason it should not be used on ferrets,
especially when, in many cases, there are NO donor ferrets available.I
intend to get more info from the manufacturer.

The new product, BIOPURE, is an "artificial blood". It is a synthetic
oxygen-carrying liquid that can actually replace blood in emergency
procedures. The beauty of it is that there is no typing or cross-matching
needed, and it can keep for two years on the shelf at room temperature.
This is truly a step forward in veterinary medicine. We are in this case
pioneering a medical treatment that is not available for humans yet.
