re: pill bugs/bug problems in general

Since I remember that we are all really nervous (with good reason) about
toxic bug stuff around our fuzzies I've been trying to remember "organic"
bug stuff...

   1) Pill bugs like moisture, put in a dehumidifier or fix the source of
dampness and the pill bugs will leave.

   2) bug repellants, bay leaf (the kind that goes in corned beef)
           cedar wood
           lavender
(just put them where you see bugs)

powedered boric acid (possibly NOT good around ferts)
is available at hardware stores and sends bugs running going Eeecccchhh.
(ask your vet if it'd be ok to use around the fuzzies) I would only put
it in places where the bugs are and the ferret doesn't go.

   3) kills bugs- diatomaceous earth (possibly misspelled)
available at some co-ops and health food stores, and recently some
garden centers.) it's a powder of fosslilized diatoms (little
creatures) which cuts open the exoskeletons of the bugs Be very
careful that you and the fuzzies don't breath in any of the dust.

again, if you are going to use it, just put it where the bugs are
      seen at.

Now if you don't want a pile of dead bugs, (possibly already
contaminated with other pesticides from where they've been before)
to clean up or for the fuzzies to eat. Don't use this.

and some people don't want to kill the bugs, just get them to leave.
IMHO the repellants work quite well.
