Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows of a good vet in the Ames, Iowa region.
We got our ferret, Guzman at approximately 2 years of age from a dog pound
here. The vet gave him a feline rabies shot, neutered him, and didn't
mention that we should bring him back in to remove the stitches. We just
assumed that they were dissolvable. From what I have read on the FML I take
it the shot was wrong also. Guzman doubled his weight in the first two
weeks from 2 lbs to over 5 lbs. I don't think that he was loved before. We
would really like another ferret, but money is fairly tight and the $200
price tag on the at the greenhouses and farm shops where they sell them at
is simply not practical. I never buy my pets, there is always one needing a
home. We presently have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and Guzman. Believe it or not we
want more. I never hear much about ferrets around here. There is the Iowa
State University vet hospital here, has anyone heard good things on them for
ferrets? Our dogs vet is a three hour drive, so if it is necessary to find
a good ferret vet, we may drive. However, the closer the better.
