Expecting ferrets to come from the pet store already potty trained is an
unrealistic expectation.  They do not have time to work with each and
every animal to potty train them.  Potty training is something that the
customer must expect to have to deal with.
 
Since they want to ignore you at the pet store, walk in one day with
a camera and just start taking embarrassing pictures.  Have a
micro-cassette recorder running in your pocket, too.  If they give you
any problem, you have it all on tape.  Then, promise them that the
pictures of their abuse will be given to animal rights groups and/or
the Petco corporate headquarters.  I bet you'll see a complete turn
around within 24 hours.
