I loved Sukie Crandall post on that topic.  I want to point out that all
ferret owners should educate the people that find your ferret really cute
and tell them a few drawbacks as well as joys of ferret ownership.
 
Lots of people get a pet because they fall in love with its look.  My
favourite character in Frasier is Eddy the dog but I often wish they would
show him acting like a typical Jack Russell terrier and not like a couch
dog.  I am sure that lots of people that acquired a Jack Russell terrier
or a ferret did not know what they were getting into.
