The vet called this weekend to say Linus' blood test came back, it looks
like he is trying to regenerate some red blood cells, not enough, but
it's good that he's trying. Part of the reason the vet is a little
confused about Linus' current issues is he did exploratory surgery on him
in early January, nothing looked remotely out of the ordinary (except his
liver, which is now testing normal). Even his pancreas, the original
target of the surgery, looked fine. But they think his anemia is due
to his long-term immuram use. He's been on it 3 1/2 years. Wouldn't
that qualify as long-term???? That's a long time! He's now on pred,
short-term. He has eaten some this weekend. A vet tech surmised he
might not want to eat, since i'm hand-feeding him. They love that.
Well, I don't think that's the case with Linus. He keeps moving his
snout away, and now his latest trick is to pee when I feed him. He
started that with meds, he would pee halfway through. Now he's doing
it with feedings. I feed him over the litter box, then put him down
and make him wander. Use his muscles a little before he finds a place
to sleep...
