Hello Hazel, my name is Spenser and I'm a 3 yr old shepard/lab cross. I
don't have any answers to your questions. I weigh about 100 lbs and they
still don't give me any respect. You can see how sassy Smokey gets whith
me (http://mulberry.com/~buckley/spenser.html). My dish sits around with
the few kibbles I leave, but the five weasles wait until its my suppertime.
Then they walk over and take what they want. I growl a warning at them,
but they don't listen. It only gets me in trouble with mom and dad.

There were only three here when mom brought me home. Now there's FIVE! And
I hear them talking about number SIX!!! When I first heard about the Ferret
Mailing List, I thought *gread* there are places you can mail ferrets, but
no such luck. I read over dad's shoulder that some one was asking if dog
food was OK for ferrets. Please for my sake tell them no. They don't eat
more that one or two kibbles, but the store HUNDREDS. Keep them away from
the dog food or us dogs will starve!

When I was just a puppy and I could play with the ferrets, I used to like
hugging Pixie by holding her under my chin. I liked that, but now Pixie
just hisses and runs away. I'm not that much bigger than her, am I? The
ferrets steel my toys and my rawhide chewies, sleep on my cushion, and now
they even go out on my walks.

But I guess it isn't really too bad. Mom and dad do try. They get the toys
out from under the couch. Dad somtimes picks Smokey up so I can eat. And
when a ferret comes for a walk we usually go to the park, which is near a
Dairy Queen and I get to share a cone with the ferret. That's when weighing
100lbs is handy, the ferret gets a couple licks, and I get the rest. I do
miss the days when I was a puppy. I used to wressle with the ferrets for
hours. It was fun then, and I think I know why humans like ferrets, I just
wish I could still play with them too.
