I always keep Mukluk in his cage except for night where he runs loose
in the bedroom and he eventually crawls under the bed spread to sleep
with me. I have often said if a ferret wants to get someplace for sure
he/she will get there. I did let Mukluk run loose around the house for
a bit and he loved that and wanted to explore ore so he searched the
cage for a way out. For sure he found it.

I have a constant feed water bottle so they can drink naturally and as
much as they want any time. He figured that if he shoved it to one side
he could squeeze out thru the hole, which is exactly what he did. I had
a different water bottle there but it developed a hole rubbing against
the cage wire. That company no longer makes them so I had to get
another kind. Unfortunately it is smaller and does not fit as well.
Mukluk made the best of that.

I was laying on the couch watching TV and felt this motion under the
blanket and for sure it was Mukluk. I checked the cage and all the
doors were closed. In a bit I figured out how he got out. Being late
at night I put a couple bricks up to cover the hole but Mukluk moved
them to make his own personal fire place ! I can't imagine him getting
to that chain saw to cut loose.

So I got up early this morning, Mukluk made sure of that. He pestered
the skrank out of me till I got up. But I left him in the bedroom while
I made a patch over the now bigger hole. I saved every scrap of wire
from the cages I built and for sure all that has come in so very handy
over the years. I made a custom shaped patch over the hole and fastened
it in place so he would need a gas torch to cut it out. I expect to
come next. Have to keep him away from Ebay and mail order catalogues.

With the patch in place and fixed solid so it can't be wrestled out, I
put him back into the cage. He immediately went to the water bottle
area way down on the bottom floor and then to where the hole used to
be. I heard a loud 'DANG !!!!' when he discovered the new patch. There
was some other blue ferret words but I will spare you from them.

So Mukluk is now safely in his cage curled up in his hidy hole box
Another case cracked !!!!!

Gordon and Mukluk.
