I've done this before in the car when it gets too warm on trips and you
could do it in the house - fill a one or two liter plastic soda bottle
with water and freeze it, then cover with an old athletic sock.  You can
then put this in their cage and it will help keep them cool for a while.
The sock should protect them from freezer burn :-)
