Someone with my address has a very infected Windows machine. It is
sending out things with nasty attachments. They are not of any type of
virus or worm that my type of operating system can get or pass along,
and, yes, we do check. They are Windows infections. If you get anything
with an attachment but I have not warned you in a separate mail to expect
an attachment from me do not open the attachment. (This is a good ides
with mail from ANYONE, BTW.) People, run your firewalls (We run three
firewalls despite not being on the vulnerable Windows stuff.) and
anti-virus service like Norton and, please, check your machines often.
The typical businesses these days run their virus software at least once
a day these days. In a recent test a non-firewalled Windows machine
wound up exposed to a virus or worm within 20 minutes of being on line.

If you get anything from me (or "me") that is not ferret related, please,
know that I am so short on time these days that only a few friends and
family have been getting such mails, so use all cautions. I do not know
if the person (people?) whose machine(s) led to the current spate of
infected machines with faked in addresses (a common feature for viruses
and worms to have) is a ferret person, a family member, or a friend, but
for some reason my address has been falsely plugged in too often recently
for comfort.

This can happen to anyone here, and undermines internet use far too often
for far too many, so please, take precautions.
