Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please be aware that the Police & Fire Committee Meeting that was
scheduled for Wednesday, August 27th, has been cancelled as of Friday,
August 22. You can find more information on
http://www.chicityclerk.com/citycouncil/calendar.html.

I have been in contact with Steve Dale, the host of WGN Radio's Pet
Central show (Saturdays at 7:30pm on 720 AM), who stated that he believed
that the council may yet throw this ordinance out. He hosted Alderman
Coleman on his show to discuss this issue on Saturday, August 16th; and
even she admitted that the council may have made an error in presenting
this proposal. Steve Dale has worked closely with Chicago's city council
on many occasions in the past with regards to animal issues in the city,
and he has been a great proponent to our cause. In support of his
efforts, I'm asking those of you who can to tune in to his show Saturday
nights, and maybe even drop a positive e-mail to the station's general
manager and program director to sing his praises. Those e-mail addresses
can be found at http://wgnradio.com/email/index.htm.

While this in no way means that we should relax our efforts entirely,
it does mean that we have made an impact. I have left a message with
Alderman Carothers' office requesting some information on when the
meeting will be rescheduled. I believe most people were being dropped
straight into voicemail when they called Friday. If anyone else has any
further information, please let us know.

In the meantime, thank you all for your support and excellent work in
educating our city council members. Keep the faith!

Best to all and their fuzzies,

Viki Rollins
