Excellent points, Kim, but wow did you ever contradict yourself just
in the first couple of paragraphs!

>I think there ought to be a 14 day "cooling off/ home study time/
>prerequisite course" before a person can actually bring a pet home.
>This time should be used to self evaluate the home, the family members,
>the committments and budget before bringing an animal into the home.

And so then the responsibilty would be on other people not prospective
owners with this thinking. The opposite of what you want and stated. In
fact, you day dream and hope for something far beyond a mere 10 minute
discussion that what pet stores, etc, should offer and help solve the
entire problem. Just sayin ...

Nobody is saying that people should not research and take
responsibility when purchasing or adopting a ferret at all. That's
understood. What Lissette and others would like is one iota of
responsibility on the part of sellers. You think a customer doesn't
ask anything when they buy a ferret?? They certainly DO ask at least a
few questions before purchasing. They dont reach into a locked tank by
themselves and shimmy on over to the register and do a self check out.

Once again ... just sayin ...lol
