This same issue was brought up in 1995.  I commented on it as well as
several other ferret people.  You can search the archives for "celebrity"
to see where the discussion went then.  Maybe it is time to revisit finding
a celebrity spokesperson.
 
This is the text of the message I sent in December 1995:
    I was wondering why the California ferret effort doesn't have a
    celebrity spokesperson.  It would seem to me that some celebrity
    should own or want to own ferrets and live in California.  Has anyone
    looked into that?  Not that Pat Wright and the CDFA folks aren't good
    spokespeople, I just thought a celebrity might carry some weight.
    Hey, maybe I'm wrong, but companies like Nike seem to be doing all
    right!

Hey, maybe Harry Anderson knows more ferret-owned celebrities!  Someone
should ask him!
