actually when my two year old went through a phase where he bit other
children and me and bit us hard, time-outs didn't work, a spanking didn't
work, so I bit him back each time he bit me.  He soon learned that it
hurt to be bitten and quit.  Obviously I never bit him hard but I got
my point across and since he grew up nice and normal as far as I can
tell (and he doesn't bite his co-workers) I can't think I did any
lasting damage.
