Lucy, Piper, Scout and Queenie
Have all come down with what I believe is the dreaded "Green Slime Diarhea"
disease.  A couple of weeks ago Lucy was admitted to Tufts in N.  Grafton,
MA with these symptoms - high fever (106), weakness in her hind end,
lethargy, dehydration, and an infection of unknown origin in her gastro
intestinal tract; she also had traces of 'green' around the base of her
tail.  She recovered from those symptoms but on Friday I noticed there was
a slimy green colored diarhea in the litterbox and aroun the cage (on
hammocks, platforms, etc.) All four ferrets live in the same cage.  I don't
know who it is coming from.  None of them are showing any further symptoms
like Lucy did.  I am watching VERY carefully...I understand this disease is
very contagious.  I have literature on it...and I am very scared.
 
I live im MA and do have a vet in NH but I am extremely concerned about the
biting problem I had last time, aswell as the cost (it cost almost $800 for
Lucy's traumatic stay at Tufts and they didn't know/never found out what
was wrong with her) I can't afford that for three more all at once.  I have
a friend who is a vet tech and shehas offered to get the sub-cue fluids to
inject under the skin and antibiotics...I am hoping to treat them myself.
I am so scared.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  (My guinea pig,
chinchilla, parrot and dog are all sick, too) :-(
