We've moved in with the in-laws and the animals are settled in their new
room. There have been a couple of problems that we've had to work around -
escaping critters and the heat - but we've found ways to work around them.
Unfortunately, the stress of the move had a negative impact on my only
sickly ferret, Anonymous, and he went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
We've spent the past three months babying and hand feeding him...'Nony
spent his last evening with us cuddling and kissing and I truly think he
knew it was his time. Thankfully, he is no longer suffering.

On another note, when I was cleaning the ferret room this morning, I
noticed that my little high spirited Cinnamin had blood on her face. When
I picked her up, we found out that her eye was injured. Rushed to the vet
and had to drop her off. Finally got a call from Dr. Coke and found out
the eye was punctured and he gave me the options. Best option was to get
her to an opthalmologist (sp?)so we spent another couple of hours chasing
down a specialist that could see her today. (you'd think there'd be more
than 2 in Houston!) The opthalmologist checked her out and determined that
she's now blind in her left eye, gave us some antibiotic eyedrops, and a
little advice for the next couple of weeks while the eye heals. He did
mention that not only would she probably be a bit moody because of the
discomfort, but also because she would have to adjust to seeing out of one
side.

Does anyone have any advice on how to help a ferret adjust to this?
Cinnamin is my "alpha female" and is used to "bullying" the boys...and I'm
also concerned that when we do put her back with the gang in a few weeks,
that they will notice the difference and treat her differently. If anyone
has tips or suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Give lots of hugs and kisses to your babies!
Thanks!
