Hi Billy,

I'm another UK ferret owner.......there are a few of us dotted about. I'm
up in West Yorks. and have 4 ferrets atm ( lost Buzz at christmas:-( ).
Mine also live outside in a purpose built ferret court...........what do
yours do with the hay bales? I use hay for bedding in their sleeping box,
but they are always chucking it out again.......I think they just like me
making their bed!

I see you're planning on breeding from all your jills this spring.........
have you got potential new owners lined up already? Lucky you if you have.
I know it's really difficult to find homes for kits sometimes. My friend
took in 2 pregnant jills last year and ended up with 11 kits to home. Up
here, when everyone's had their pick of the season's new ferrets, the
leftover ones are on sale for 50p or given away for free. There's an awful
lot of ferrets in shelters as well coz no-one wants them once they've got
past the kit stage. Most RSPCA branches don't know what to do with them
once they've been dumped on them and if they don't have a shelter they can
farm them off to, they get pts.Think very carefully about breeding them if
you haven't got homes lined up............I'm sure Sheila can give you some
horror stories! :-))

D'you work your ferrets? Mine are mainly pets but we do go out rabbiting
with my lurchers when we get the chance. They get so excited when they see
the ferreting box, they really love it............all that wide open space
and no lead!:-))

Let us know more about your ferrets (and you),

K.
