Ferret with Late Stage Insulinoma:
I would not be using the Timmy's Tonic. Unless they have changed the
formulation to remove licorice root/true licorice, that licorice in it
is hard on the heart and combined with Pred that also can account for his
reduced health. If you look in herbal books which contain precautions
(too many don't when they actually should) you will see warning after
warning about the dangerous circulatory aspects of natural licorice.
Some things which can result: blood pressure, rhythm and contractile
problems, and a much increased risk of thromboses (thrown clots which
some people mistakenly call "strokes" in ferrets. For more on Thromboses
look at past posts of Dr. Bruce Williams, ferret expert vet pathologist
in the archives of both the FML and FHL.

Oh, and one FHL member had a ferret who improved with starch added to the
diet at this stage. It lasts longer in the body than sugar.
