Ran across some interesting things lately. There is/will be a ferret show here
in the D.C. area sponsored by a group of witches! I've heard that ferrets are
a popular choice among witches. There was a lot of discussion at the Loudan
County Ferret Fanciers meeting as to participation. I think it was an IFA
sanctioned event. I was somewhat torn on the issue. On the one hand, we are
having enough political problems with proposed ferret bans here that this might
not help our efforts. On the other hand, that group has also probably suffered
from knee-jerk reactions of thier choice as we sometimes have from our choice
of pets. It is interesting, nonetheless.

The president of LAFF has a ferret with a vasectomy! Purpose is obviously to
get jills out of oestrous without producing kits. LAFF also provides distemper
shots at meetings at cost (about $1.50 or so) which is a great savings over a
visit to the vet costing $20 and up. This course should not be pursued in lieu
of an annual health check by a vet but the overall cost reduction is
significant when one has several ferrets. Since I can't tell where many of you
are physically located from your usenet addresses, I invite any inquiries from
members in the D.C./VA/MD/PA to drop me a line if interested.
