Hi there--
I've found that neither of my ferrets is ever truely comfortable outside in
broad daylight, but dusk or dark is another story entirely. In daylight
they pretty much just cling to me or try to hide, but when it's dark, their
confidence levels go up about six thousand percent. I suppose they can't
see that well in bright light, or just feel too exposed during the day.
Another advantage to walks after dusk is that you are mobbed by fewer kids
at a time-- not that I have anything against kids, heck, I used to be one
myself, but I worry about possible incidents when there's too many kids who
want to pet the ferret at once. So, try going out just after sunset with
your ferret, and see if that makes a difference.

To an owner of ferrets named Chris-- how many ferrets named Chris do
you own? :-)

Bob-- you could pretend you are a ferret-- that would probably liven up the
seminars anyway-- "hey, Bob just bit my foot!!! And now he's bounding out
the door with the speaker's briefcase!!"
