Hello FML'ers,

I just got back from S.D. with the my two girls (Scoots & Nikita). They
travelled pretty well except reeking havock when I let them out of their
carrier halfway across South Dakota. Nikita focused on sitting on the
passenger side trying to eat my lunch while Scoots went staight under the
seats and then into the air vents. Overall, they travelled very well for
the 9 hour ride.

Anywho, I have been trying to get 'Kita to use the corner litter box. I
started by cutting a tupperware in half kitty-corner so that it resembled a
corner box. She uses this very well but when I try to get her to use the
real box - not a chance. The only difference between the two corner litter
boxes is that one has a ledge to keep the litter from spilling over the
edge. ANY suggestions to get her to switch are welcome. I have tried
letting the droppings get old so she would switch - she just moves over a
little and leaves gifts there. I tried setting her into the correct corner
box several times last night when she started backing into a corner - no
luck - she just refused to go. I thought that she might use the right one
because she sniffed the corner like she was going to use it but then went
back to the other corner. Oh well - I have to keep working on her.

Also, all at once she started to bite my toes again after I thought I had
cured that. I coated my toes with bitter apple - she can smell that and
then doesn't bite. little stinker! Oh well, I think both Nikita and Scoots
are great friends & I love them both.

Finally, I wonder if there are different strains of ECE?? Maybe this is why
some have more problems with their ferrets when they get this than others?
If this is true, this could be a good thing. In humans, the small pox
vaccine came about from a similar "bug" which was not nearly as deadly.
Perhaps if this was researched we could find a mild strain of ECE which
could be used modified or dead as a vaccine for our fuzzies. Just a
thought. I may be way off base here.

Regards
