I also enjoy unusual names. My pets are named as follows:

Denali, male ferret, meaning "The great one" in a native american language
(don't remember which one).
Kaido, (not after Kato!!) my female ferret, something Japanese, but I have
long since forgotten in the two years I've been back in the U.S.
Jovian, Female Kitten, saw it in a science magazine with references to the
God of Jove, and The planet Jupiter. Don't remember the exact context, I
hate mythology!

My father owns a pet boarding Kennel, which I worked at for several years,
and seeing the same pet names over and over again got really old. No
offense intended to anyone regarding their pet names, but, again, I have
seen a lot of pet names over the years, and enjoy the unusual ones, along
with their origins.

We once had a dog come through the kennel with a very unusual name that
always stuck as being a really cool name. I remember it being the russian
for DOG, but cannot remember the actual name. I've been meaning to get to
the library to look this up, but just haven't yet. Does anyone know it
right off hand? I would enjoy hearing some of the other names people have
for their pets, as I'm always looking for more to add to my future pet name
list.
