Hello!
 
I have a 7 1/2 year old sable female, Fuzzy, that was diagnosed with
insulinoma and adrenaloma.  She recently had an ultrasound, because she was
losing her fur.  Ultrasound revealed that she does indeed have insulinoma,
but her adrenals appear fine.  What was discovered is a nodule (or maybe
cyst?) in one kidney, and one in her liver.  My vet wants to operate on her
pancreas, and remove the kidney with the nodule.  I think he wants to do
something with the liver, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, I'm wondering about
the survival rate for a surgery like this, given that she was sick for
about six months last year, with ECE.  And, she has actually grown most
of her fur back, except for her tail.  She's eating well (Totally Ferret),
drinking well, and pooping well.  I'm OK with the insulinoma surgery, but
I'm not really comfortable with the rest of it.  I don't want to put Fuzzy
under any more stress than is absolutely necessary, and cost is not a
factor for me.  I love her to death, and I'd hate to see surgery maybe
shorten her life.  I guess I'd also like to hear from anyone whose ferret
had a similar diagnosis, and surgery.
