another post from Maren after the storms:

Rose.

We are slowly coming back to some semblance of normalcy here. House
is still exposed but we have good solid make-shift, temporary roof and
north and south walls damaged from fallen trees. We have power restored
and most of the debris from last week's storms cleared. Most of the
ferrets have calmed down but still have a couple of kids who are still
suffering some residual stress from the storms and the noise and choas
that followed.

We arevworking with local rescue groups once again.....a pair of
fuzzies came from Smithville MS who had an F5 devestate that town. The
mother was found a mile and a half from their leveled home and the 12
yr old boy was flown to LeBonheur. He is stable and worried about the
only remaining members of his family. Zeke and Petey. These boys are
recovering at the shelter and we are doing our best for them. Stress
seems to be the biggest issue with them. They are recovering from a
broken foot, lacerations to the face and body, and effetcs from
dehydration.

Although we are closed, we cannot close our doors to them or the
multiple ferrets looking for a safe place during the ongoing flooding
evacuations. We are working with the Red Cross on this situation.
Please say a prayer for the Durham boys and their owner, 12 yr old
Jeffrey.
