I wouldn't worry too much about your ferrets and puppies getting along
with one another so long as you make it abundantly clear to the puppies that
they are STILL the center of your world in spite of the fact that there are
suddenly a bunch of bouncing little fuzzballs in the world :)

When we introduced my late ferret Suzie to my then-SO's 70-lb
lab/retriever mix, he just held the ferret and let the dog sniff her, and
said 'kitty kitty' <grin>. Believe it or not, if the dog thought an
animal...ANY animal was a kitten, that animal would never have ANYTHInG to
fear, no matter how much it abused and terrorized the poor dog :) And suzie
did just that -- chased the dog up and down the hall and through the
house...tried to eat her tail and ears :)

Anyway, we introduced our own dog Charlie to our ferrets simply by
puting him on a leash with a tighter than normal collar and letting him in
the house. Once his figured out (from the leash being jerked) that trying
to play with the little furred demons by BITING them was a BAAAAD idea, he
warmed up quickly, and within a couple of days, he was running free through
the house with the ferrets just like he'd been born with them. Used to make
them SO mad by herding them around the living room with his nose -- being a
Shepard mix, he had the instincts, and was good at keeping them away from
their hiding places...hehehe. They could get away, but seemed to enjoy
bouncing and dooking MUCH more...and nipping him was SO much fun :)

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Reading the previous ones brought back
a lot of good memories and made me miss my little Suzie all the more.
Looking forward to seeing her and her sister SO much.

Matt

Compromise -- noun -- Such an adjustment of conflicting interests as
gives each adversary the satisfaction of thinking he has got what he
ought not to have, and is deprived of nothing except what was justly his
due.
