Hi To All You Ferret Loving People Out There!

I was wondering if there are any ferret clubs in central PA and if there are
any shelters, for ferrets, in central PA. I am looking to purchase another
ferret and would like to get one from a shelter rather than a pet store. Is
this a good idea or should I get one from a pet store?
Okay now the serious stuff. A friend of mine has a female ferret that a about
4 years old. Last October she had surgery to remove an adreanal tummor. In the
past month or so she has started to eat and eat and eat. In the past three
weeks she has doubled her original size. She just will not stop eating. She
also sleeps a lot and when she is awake she is either grooming herself or
another ferret. The other ferrets have also become very protective of her
(fighting off vistors and sometimes even her owner). I would like to know if
any one else has been through this and if so what happened? We are very
concerned. The vet said that it is nothing to worry about and her biological
clock thinks it is winter.

Thank you in advance for all your help!
Cheryl, the owner and Lucretia, the ferret
