It has come to my attention that some sysops on Pet-Net believe that
there is a policy that phone numbers or addresses shall not be in
uploads to the Pet-Net forum. This has manifested itself as FML issues
containing them being deleted from Pet-Net. While time-based
expiry is perfectly reasonable, content-based is not. Further, Bill
was recently asked to pre-delete numbers and addresses before uploading
FML issues to Pet-Net.

As I am the moderator/editor of this mailing list, and responsible for
its content, I cannot permit content-based editing outside of my
control. I'd be abdicating my responsibilities to my subscribership.
Even via proxy to someone I trust as much as Bill.

As this information is often quite important to FML readers, until
Pet-Net/whomever rethinks this policy, uploads to anywhere in GEnie is
hereby prohibited. This is, in particular, but not limited to, Pet-Net
and the National Videotex Network.

Therefore I have asked Bill to stop uploading the FML to Pet-Net as
of this issue.

Direct FML email subscribers within GEnie will be unaffected. Those
GEnie subscribers who wish to receive the FML are invited to send their
subscription requests to the subscription address shown above.

I deeply regret having to take this step, but I am sure you can
appreciate my position.
