I have a 2 year and 4 month old male ferret named Vinyl Reign -- I took him
earlier in May to get his shots and to see what my vet cold give him since
he wasn't eating.  The vet game me some green syrupy liquid to give him 3
times a day --- when I gave it to him he fused about spitting it out or
hacking it up like a furball so I stopped giving it to him 3 days later.  So
anyways Vinyl still isn't eating and is very skinny now to the point you can
see his skin draped around his bones.  He does drink water which I now moved
to a bowl since he bearly hols his head up.  When he walks he drags his back
feet and falls over withiin a few steps.  When he goes to the bathroom and
poops (when that does happen) it is a black sticky color like tar --- and
ends up drying over his butthole.  I blened some food and water and tried
that -- he seems to eat a lil of it but not much.  Im taking him to the vet
tonight (5-26-98) but I need someone how knows about ferrets to help.  He
did get sick like this b4 but not this bad.  I feed him Friskys kitten food
because the ferretfood was too expensive here.  Vinyl doesn't eat others
food like apples and things -- he likes his treats but thats it.  Its only
the kitten food he eats.
 
Also I was wondering what others use as litter -- I have been using Fresh
Step (the non scoop kind of course) but I would like to know.
