Hello, I have 3 cats and two ferrets and also a dog, but he doesn't concern
this discusion.  When I got my first ferret I only had my 3 cats.  I was
very scared my cats would hurt the ferret, but was imformed by a
knowledgible ferret vet tech./owner that it was the ferret I would have to
worry about.  None of my pets are related, all are from different homes
and different ages.  I firmly believe that a postive outlook and proper
socialization can make almost any animal get along with others.  All it
takes is love and time.  They may never be cuddle buds but they will live
together without killing one another.  My cats never were too friendly with
my first ferret.  But they stayed out of her way so there was no conflect.
My youngest cat was a year or under at the time, the others were 3 and 2.
Now I have two other ferrets and it seems my Siamese takes to my honey mitt
male, Tigger.  I found him bathing him one day, what a wonderful surprise
that was!  I suggest if you get a kitten to slowly expose it to your
ferret(s).  First though the cage bars( if you use a cage) or footsie under
a door.  One they get confertable with each others smell then do small
interductions highly monatored.  You will know when to move on to the next
step and when you pets are ready, if ever, for play time together.  You may
find you kitten grows up thinking it just a weird lookin' weasel as my
puppy has.  Hope this helps.
