mary - sorry this response is a little late but those exams have to come
first, well after a play session with the babies. but rascal, who is about
a year old, ate part of a t-shirt i had in his cage to sleep with and it got
stuck. everything worked out ok, but i wanted to let you know that after
that happened i changed his food and he quit eating the shirt, he also came
out of his cage a lot more. so i concluded from this that he was eating the
tshirt out of boredom, or because he just didn't like his food and was
hungry. he loves his new food and eats a lot more of it and has put on some
weight. he won't touch any cloth, plastic is another story...

christine- about that shoulder training, i trained my ferret to ride up
there by first just teaching them disipline. i held them in my hands and no
matter how much they squirrmed to get down, i wouldn't let them. this
eventually taught them that i was the boss (ya right) and they know now that
they must stay where i put them. of course the transition fron hand to
shoulder wasn't without any raisins. i started out walking aroung with them
up there in the apt. where they didn't particurally want to get down and
explore cause they'd already been there. gave them a raisin for staying,
and slowly made the transition the outside and then the mall! of course if
i come to a counter to pay for something, this is a litle too tempting, and
they will try to climb down, but we've come along way!
