Ok. So I'm about to head back East from Berkeley, CA to embark on the
Great Ferret Caper (moving my weasels cross country to live with me). I'm
looking at all these flights into Reno from New York, and they're really
expensive. Of course I'm flying out of California too, so it means buying
two round trips. Then I notice that one of the flights stops over in the
San Francisco airport on the WAY to Reno, and it occurs to me that it would
be completely ridiculous to take that flight only to have to rent a car and
drive back to California.

So here's my question. What exactly is preventing me from just taking the
ferrets on the return flight to the San Francisco airport getting off the
plane and marching right out of the airport with them and into my car and
going home. Do the airlines prevent you from bringing ferrets on flights
to San Francisco? I have never seen anyone with a pet carrier stopped to
be searched by officials. Who would possibly stop us?

Of course I wouldn't want to do anything to endanger the girls, but I'd
kind of rather put the extra $1,000 in the bank for vet bills.

Am I crazy?
