ferret eating problem

Hi.  The problem with my ferret is that she has been losing weight, for a
few days I noticed but I didn't know why.  I realized she has been having
trouble swallowing her food, so she hasn't been eating as much.  Does
anyone know what this could be?  I am planning on taking her to the vet,
but I thought I would ask here first to see if I could get any advice.
