Hey Rick, we sympathize.  How many times a week do you have to grit your
teeth, take (many) deep breaths, and try your best not to inflict bodily
injury upon these people who are abandoning their pets.  How about the two
8 year olds we have in the shelter, who came to us without names?  Or the
family of three, 2 7 year olds and 1 8 year old, all with medical problems?
We don't have a solution, but especially when we get requests from
teenagers to adopt, we stress that this ferret is going to be a FAMILY pet,
and if your parents don't want a ferret, you're not going to get a ferret.
We tell them that ferrets live for 8 years, where are you going to be in 8
years, what about the fact that most college dorms don't allow ANY animals.
We can't prevent all of the crazy people from adopting and/or buying
ferrets, but we can try.  Good luck!
