Well, just because the publishers of Ferrets magazine have decided to
experiment with an on-line format doesn't mean that the magazine is
gone for people here. After all, we are all on-line. In fact, most
people here who learned about this learned about it on-line.

Change is always worrisome, but it isn't always bad. Now, magazines
don't translate well when print format is used, but if the publishers
ultimately decide to go with an internet-savvy approach there will be
some real pluses for those of us who are on-line. Imagine if they go
with having archives so that you can easily look up any vet's article
that you need to tell someone else about and can do so by just cutting
and pasting the URL into your letter. Imagine if someone needs to find
a local ferret club and there is a state by state scroll-down menu for
those, or for their listed vets, or for their listed shelters, or even
for their advertisements (with live links to them when possible).
Wouldn't it be a gas if they had people send in their own short ferret
film clips and included those? All ferret, all the time film clips!

True, it won't be a magazine you can read in the bathtub until someone
finally has a browser-using mini-computer that is water resistant. Then
again, you'd think that with so many people liking to read and listen
to music when soaking in a wonderful bubble-bath or out at a swimming
outing that someone will eventually grab that niche market.

So, yes, it is changing, but think of it as a metamorphosis rather than
a death, and let's try to figure out what will have the best chance of
making it successful.

This, too, you encountered on the internet, just as you discussed the
changes on a website and then on an internet list.
