I just thought I would drop by and tell you about a sweet boy named Lennie.
Lennie was surrendered to the Alberta Ferret Society around the end of
May. He had been in the same home since 1992, so that makes him around 8.
Lennie at one time was well loved and had a cage mate. Through time the
fellow that shared his life with the boys got married, had kids, got dogs
and in general got too busy for the ferts. They ended up in the basement
with just the sounds from up stairs to remind them of the action they once
participated in. Lennies buddy died, we do not know from what, which left
our little fellow all alone. I guess guilt got the better of the fellow
and he called the AFS, he said Lennie needed a home with other ferrets.
When he brought him upstairs he just clung to me.

We got him to my house and put him down on the floor, he could barely walk.
He dove into the water dish and then the food, like he hadn't seen either
for quite a while. At first we thought he had hind end weakness from just
being old, but over the past month he has steadily improved. He has put
on weight, his coat is thick and shiny (except for the tip of his tail) and
he goes everywhere in a trot. He has dropped three years of his age. He
hasn't been intergrated with any of my other ferts, but he loves to get the
girls all worked up through the bars of their cage.

I am so glad that I have been able to be a part of his last months or
years. He is a happy addition to my household of 8 ferts and two cats
(all of which get along great, and also don't mind sharing the litter box)
