Hi Everyone,

It's been quite a while since I have posted and I wanted to tell everyone
how wonderful they are! I have had so many people sending good wishes
our way and help has been slowly coming forth through the help of all the
wonderful people on the FML!

The people from the Giving Tree have been emailing me with promises to
give our rescues such great Christmas' that I can't wait to watch them
open their gifts! It make me so happy to know that they are away from
all of the abuse and neglect that they came from or that they are feeling
very wanted instead of unwanted in some cases.

I haven't had a lot of time lately to post, because of how busy it has
been around here! I never even got my November or December raffle put
together. I put them together myself and just haven't had the funds for
it lately. Or the time...

Let me tell you a little about what has been going on for the past month
and a half or so...

The last you heard from me was probably when we had our Ferret
Marketplace. That was a BUSY time! After that I had about 5-6 new
ferrets come in to my rescue. All but 1 were very sick babies! I lost
2 of them to the Rainbow Bridge. One of insulinoma and the other of
lymphosarcoma. My heart was breaking! I then was having problems with
3 of my former babies that took a turn for the worse. I almost lost
one, but she has made a remarkable recovery! The other two are still
recovering and holding their own. In all now I have 8 sick babies that
are keeping me on my toes! No more at the critical stage though. So I
have a little time to write.

Then around the 2nd week of November, I started to have problems with my
Grandmal seizures (yes, I am an epileptic...) so I got an appointment
that took me across the state to see a specialist. Now I might be having
surgery to try and stop my seizures. (When it rains...it pours! LOL) I
get admitted in January for testing for that.

The 3rd week and 4th week of November, I get 6 more ferret turned in to
my rescue. This time, one was SHOT by a pellet gun and had the pellet
left in it for 2-3 weeks. Grrrrrr I soooooo hate animal abusers! I who
love to fill that guy's a$$ full of pellets!!!

Sorry...just had to vent!!! Then one of them I pulled out of a cage
(wire bottom) that had this BIG huge, 10" in diameter, dog dish for food
(with nothing in it), nasty almost empty water bottle, one NASTY, teeny
tiny, dirty, half rotted, pocket hammock of some sort, and nothing else.
Oh, yes...an empty small corner litterpan, and 5" deep of fecal matter in
the bottom of the cage. Anger was all over me! I wish I knew who the
owner was to that poor ferret! Of course you won't find him! She will
not ever live like that ever again! Her name is Xena-The Warrior
Princess. She is such a sweetheart to. And only a year and a half old.
What a way to start her life!

The other 4 ferret babies came to me healthy and happy just unwanted. So
sad... So right now I am at 26 ferrets. 4 personals and 22 rescues.
Next...I want to thank everyone again at SOS for the generous help you
sent my way x's 2... You have been such a big help when help was really
needed so badly! I feel like I should set up camp at my Vet's office or
just rent a room from her! LOL

And thanks to everyone who sent bedding or donations. If I missed a
thank you card in the mail somewhere...please forgive me. I try to do
my best to get them out right away before too much time goes by and the
'ol brain forgets to send it. (Age setting in...LOL)

I have also been doing some rehabbing on some of the more aggressive
ferret babies that our local Petco has been getting in. (Really...I just
like to bring them home and use that as an excuse...) I go there every
weekend and do ferret education at the store. I also take applications
for adopting ferrets and let all of their ferrets out of the habitat to
play in a GIANT playpen I set up every weekend for them to run around
and play with lots of toys and tunnels! I have hammocks on stands for
sleeping and the whole nine yards! I wish I could leave them in it ALL
the time! But they only get Saturdays and Sundays... The Petco here in
my town a really good store! Clean, takes exellent care of all their
animals! Very nice people!

Then there are my grandchildren!!!!!! (I am a YOUNG Grandma for the
record!) 2 out of the 9 I baby-sit 4 days a week! Now, I say...where
does Debbie find time for Debbie???? That is a GOOD question!

Well? That is MOST of what has been going on here. I should change
Deb's Ferret Rescue to, Deb's Mad House............

If you don't hear from me again before Christmas, may you have a Very
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year....!

Debbie
& all the Rescued Fuzzy's
